Lead excerpt
NJP provides commanders with an essential and prompt means of maintaining good order and discipline and also promotes positive behavior changes in Service members without the stigma of a court-martial conviction. Although a disciplinary measure more serious than administrative corrective measures, NJP is less serious than trial by court-martial.
Quoted from section 0102 of the volume.
Audience
Commanders imposing enlisted NJP, S-1 and legal clerks preparing the Unit Punishment Book, and leaders documenting discipline.
