Section 90701
Imminent Danger Pay (TTC 236/293/294/297/899)
Section 1
Effective December 31, 2011, the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) changed the entitlement to IDP from a monthly non-prorated entitlement to a monthly prorated entitlement. For each day served in a designated IDP area, a Marine is entitled to 1/30th of the maximum monthly amount ($225). Prior to December 31, 2011, IDP was a monthly special pay of $225. It was payable in the full amount without being prorated for each month during any part for which a Marine was assigned to a designated IDP area. Active and Reserve Component members who qualify, at any time during a month were entitled to the full amount of IDP regardless of the actual period served on Active Duty or Inactive Duty for training. Refer to the DOD 7000.14-R Financial Management Regulation, Volume 7A, Chapter 10, Figure 10-1, for the designated IDP areas.
Section 2
IDP is now based on days spent, based on 30 days per month, in a designated IDP area per the DOD 7000.14-R Financial Management Regulation, Volume 7A, Chapter 10, Paragraph 100101.B and Figure 10-1. The 31st of a month, whether the first day in the IDP area or at any other point during the duty, is considered a day of non-entitlement. February is treated as a 30 day month. a. Effective 1 January 2012, a Marine is not entitled to IDP for the number of days while on leave, Temporary Additional Duty or rest and recuperation (R&R) from a designated IDP area. Effective with software Release (SR) 1-2013 (April 2013), MCTFS will systematically deduct IDP during periods of non-entitlement. b. A Marine receiving IDP who is wounded or injured as a result of hostile action is entitled to Hostile Fire Pay (HFP), see Paragraph 90702. c. A Marine who is injured or suffers an illness (not from hostile action) that results in hospitalization for the injury or illness is entitled to IDP for each month member is hospitalized and receiving treatment for the injury or illness.
Section 3
The DOD 7000.14-R Financial Management Regulation, Volume 7A, Chapter 10, at: http://comptroller.defense.gov/Portals/45/documents/fmr/Volume_07a.pdf contains complete instructions relative to the regulatory conditions of Active Duty entitlement to IDP. The unit diary is used to report all conditions of accrual or non-accrual of IDP.
Section 4
The data element 'Country code' is a two-character alphanumeric code for the countries of the world. A list of valid IDP and HFP location codes can be found on the Manpower Codes Lookup at https://www2.manpower.usmc.mil/lookups, Imminent / Hostile Fire Pay (IDP / HFP). In MCTFS, SELECT CICS, SELECT TDM TABLES VIEW AND SELECT OPTION 2 (MCTFS ALPHA TABLE RECORDS (AA-ZZ), TABLE ID: SR (IDP HFP LOCATIONS). Unit Commanding Officer's will report the country code for the country where the Marine earned the IDP entitlement. A country code of 'ZZ' will be used to designate a classified location (when the actual country code cannot be revealed for security reasons).

Section 9
Reservists performing Annual Training (AT)/Inactive Duty Training (IDT) for 30 days or less in a designated IDP area are entitled to special pay for such duty, to include the 31st of a given month, if that given month includes 31 days. (I.E. If the Reserve Component IDP entitlement is for the period YYYY-MM-25, to YYYY-MM-31, then the RC IDP entitlement should be reported with FROM DATE equal YYYYMM25 and TO DATE equal YYYYMM31. In this scenario the RC Marine will receive day for day RC IDP entitlement for 7 days to include the 31st of the month. a. If/when an RC Marine has subsequently transferred from the Reserve Component, to Active Duty for Operational Support (ADOS), to the Active Component (AC), or to the Active Reserve (AR), and the RC Admin RUC can no longer report RC transactions (TTC’s), then the RC Admin RUC should prepare a NAVMC 11116, Miscellaneous Military Pay Order, and forward it to the Reserve Pay, Finance Office, D0006, for crediting of RC IDP. b. The NAVMC 11116 should reflect the period the member is to be credited or checked IDP. The period reported must equal or include dates within a previous Active Duty (AT/IDT) period. Report the dates of actual entitlement per the DOD 7000.14-R Financial Management Regulation, Volume 7A, Chapter 10, Figure 10-1.
