MARADMIN 341/26 - Change 1 to MARADMIN 188/25, Advance Notification of Changes to Special Leave Accrual

Scope

MARADMIN 341/26 changes the Special Leave Accrual policy in MARADMIN 188/25 and the upcoming MCO 1050.3J revision, effective on release. SECNAV must formally designate the specific deployable ship, mobile unit, or other qualifying duty before SLA eligibility exists under those categories, and no designations exist yet. The Marine Corps therefore suspends SLA authorization for three of the four qualifying categories. Applies to the Total Force.

Audience

• Marines holding or preparing SLA requests under the suspended categories.
• Unit commanders holding pending SLA requests.
• The first Marine general officer in the administrative chain, whose SLA approval authority narrows.
• S-1 and IPAC personnel fielding the questions paragraph 6 routes to them.

Action items

• The first Marine general officer will not approve SLA requests citing MARADMIN 188/25 paragraph 6.b, deployable ship or mobile unit, paragraph 6.c, other duty, or paragraph 6.d, contingency operations. Paragraph 3.a.
• Unit commanders return pending SLA requests under those criteria to the Marine without action until SECNAV publishes formal designations. Paragraph 3.b.
• The suspension does not touch the hostile fire and imminent danger pay path. Marines serving at least 120 consecutive days in an HFP or IDP area remain eligible under MARADMIN 188/25 paragraph 6.a. Paragraph 4.
• M&RA is coordinating the SECNAV designations, and a follow-on MARADMIN will announce designated ships, mobile units, and qualifying duties once approved. Paragraph 5.
