Subject, Interim Guidance and Implementation of New Digital Submission Tools for Honorary, Retirement, and Career Service Awards. Date signed 2026-06-22.
Audience
Servicing Human Resource Offices (HROs) submitting and tracking nominations through the SharePoint applications. S-1 chiefs and civilian personnel specialists preparing civilian award nominations, with the immediate commanding officer of the servicing command endorsing, per the portal civilian awards pages. Background
The civilian honorary awards program recognizes civilian employees whose exceptional contributions and career achievements significantly enhance the mission of their command and the Marine Corps at large. Historically, submission and processing have been governed by MCO 12451.2D. The manual methods outlined in the order are outdated and lack efficiency. MCO 12451.2D is undergoing comprehensive revision to streamline processes and update requirements.
