Scope
DOWI 1336.07 sets the Department policy for managing Personnel Tempo. PERSTEMPO measures the time an individual Service member spends engaged in official duties making it infeasible to spend off-duty time in the housing where they normally reside. The instruction establishes the event taxonomy, the reporting obligation, the 400-day out of 730-day threshold, and the waiver requirement.
The issuance carries the DOWI designation following the 2026 Department of War renaming. Earlier references to the same document use the DoDI form. Both forms resolve to this entry.
Marine Corps implementation
MARADMIN 436/26 is the Marine Corps summary of this instruction. The MARADMIN carries the Service-level detail on the day away rule, the waiver routing through the first General Court-Martial Convening Authority to DC M&RA, the 120-day submission lead time, and the MCTFS reporting chain. Read the MARADMIN for the execution steps and this instruction for the underlying Department policy.
Statutory base
10 U.S.C. 991 governs the program. The statute sets the deployment threshold and the requirement for Secretary-level approval before a member exceeds it.
Access
No public landing page carries this issuance. Marines reach the current version through the Marine Online and Manpower and Reserve Affairs policy channels, or through the servicing administration section. The Manpower Military Policy Branch SharePoint site holds the Service-level policy set.
