Role view
Active duty admin support to Reserve units.
Reserve incentive programs reward enlistment, reenlistment, and continued service. SRIP defines bonuses for critical MOSs. ROEP supports specific reserve enlistment. IIADT structures initial active duty for training.
Inactive duty is everything reservists do that is not in active duty status. Four primary categories with different pay, points, and admin treatment. The foundation of reserve participation.
The Marine Corps Reserve Loan Repayment Program (LRP) helps eligible reservists pay down qualifying student loans. Members in critical MOSs may receive substantial loan repayment as a reenlistment incentive.
MCRAMM Chapter 5 covers general reserve information including identification, travel, allowances, authorities, and administrative procedures common across reserve components. The foundation chapter for daily reserve admin operations.
MCRAMM Chapter 8 details Individual Ready Reserve information. IRR Marines have remaining military service obligation but do not drill. They maintain reserve component status and remain subject to recall.
Reserve members must maintain specific medical standards for continued drilling and mobilization eligibility. Annual physicals, dental readiness, and specific medical category management drive reserve medical operations.
ADOS authorizes Reserve members on active duty for specific operational missions. Per MCO 1001.59, ADOS supports specific operational requirements distinct from training (AT/ADT) or mobilization. Members typically volunteer.
Reservists and their families access commissary, exchange, MWR facilities, and Space-Available travel under specific eligibility rules. Drilling SELRES members have full access. IRR and Standby members have limited access. Retired Reserve members have full access at most installations.
IRR and Standby Reserve members do not drill but maintain reserve component status with minimum participation requirements. Annual readiness data, address updates, and muster compliance keep them in good standing.
Reserve promotions follow the same MCO P1400.32 framework as active duty but with reserve-specific timing, eligibility, and processing differences. Quarterly cycles for E-2 through E-5, board cycles for SNCO and officer.
Mission, composition, and structure of the Marine Corps Reserve. The Reserve provides trained units and qualified individuals for active duty in time of war or national emergency.
Reserve retirees access health care, military identification, and base privileges based on retirement status. Awaiting Pay status, Receiving Pay status, and Medicare-eligible status each have different ID cards, benefits, and privileges.
Reserve retirement requires 20 qualifying years and pay begins at age 60 (with reductions for qualifying active duty). Satisfactory year criteria, retirement age reduction, and the Career Retirement Credit Report drive eligibility.
MCRAMM Chapter 7 details Selected Reserve information specific to SMCR drilling members. SELRES is the active drilling combat power of the USMCR. Specific drill periods, AT requirements, and career provisions distinguish SELRES service.
Standby Reserve administration includes member contact maintenance, periodic readiness updates, status change processing, and coordination with member's specific situation. MCRSC primarily handles Standby administration.
When a reservist is injured during inactive duty (drill, AT, FHD), Line of Duty (LOD) determination drives healthcare coverage and benefits. LOD investigations document whether the injury occurred in qualifying status.
When UCMJ does not apply or as alternative to UCMJ, administrative actions address Reserve member misconduct. Letters of Reprimand, Page 11 entries, and administrative separation processing provide non-judicial responses to misconduct.
Cards group by functional area. Each card opens to the topic index, where you find the procedural pages, the function code, the T-R event mapping, and the source policy citations. Function codes follow MCO 5000.14D MCAP. GENA covers general admin. OPER covers operational admin. MPMN covers manpower. PERA covers personnel.
Every page cites source policy with chapter and section. Use the Search and Citations Index to find content by policy reference.
